Parish Registration & Support: thank you to those who have recently registered as members of the Newman Parish, and to those who have made or renewed pledges of support. For those who have forgotten or missed the recent talk, here is a check list:

• To register as a Parishioner of the Newman Parish, go to the Parish website & register on line (there is provision for families as well as individuals);
• To provide financial support to the clergy and Parish, one can make regular e-transfers, give by direct debit, or use the envelope system. New sets of envelopes for the coming year are now available, and can be collected after Sunday Mass. For help with transfers and direct debit, please contact the Secretary.
• Consider making a bequest to the Parish in your Will. Please contact Fr Tattersall to discuss the appropriate form of bequest. This is also a good opportunity to discuss suitable funeral arrangements.
• Consider what practical support you might be able to offer to the Parish – for example, joining the roster for tea & coffee after Sunday Mass, becoming a porter, serving at the Altar, or assisting with sacred music (singing, or playing organ).

Vespers & Benediction will be celebrated at 3.45 pm on the Sundays of Advent, commencing next Sunday, 1st December.

Church cleaning day – Saturday, 30th November: volunteers are requested to assist with a clean up in and around the Church on Saturday, 30th November. We will commence after the 10 am Mass and devotions. A light luncheon will be provided.

Liturgical catechesis: Sundays from 9.30 – 10.00 am, starting 1st December. Understand and follow the Mass. Lessons for newcomers on the meaning of the Mass and how to follow it in 12 short conferences of 30 minutes on Sundays 9:30 am – 10.00 am, beginning on the 1st Sunday of Advent, 1st December. The talks will provide a key to understanding the Mass & its different parts, and to follow it prayerfully using a Missal. The lessons will progress through the consecutive parts of the Mass, looking at the spiritual meaning and history of the ritual as well as how to follow along with the Missal. Time Q&A is included. Classes will be held in the school hall. All are welcome – please bring your Missal (St John Henry’s Book Room has Missals for purchase).

First Confession & First Holy Communion: please pray for the young people who are making their sacramental preparation. First Holy Communion will be celebrated at the Solemn Mass on the feast of the Immaculate Conception (Sunday, 8th December).

Adult Catechesis: Fr Tattersall continues the adult catechesis this Wednesday (27th November) at Maryvale, from 7 – 8 pm. No registration is necessary, and all are welcome. Classes are held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month. The course text is Bishop Athanasius Schneider’s Credo. Participants are asked to come with their own copy (hard copies are available for purchase from St John Henry’s Book Room).

Fortes in Fide: In December, Fortes in Fide is holding two events for young adults. For men there will be a 4 day hiking trip in the Victorian Alps, which includes daily Mass. For ladies, there is a day retreat including Mass, prayer, Holy Hour, Conferences and activities.
